Nastran

Nastran

MSC Nastran is the world's most widely used Finite Element Analysis (FEA) solver, and Patran is a widely used modeling software that makes model creation and post-processing easy. When it comes to analyzing stress, dynamics, or vibration behavior of real-world complex systems, manufacturers of everything from parts and assemblies to full.

I am running a SOL101 analysis and here is an error which I am getting

in the header file i have specified max ratio as
first with PARAM,MAXRATIO,1.0E+15
and then with PARAM,MAXRATIO,1.0E+25
but in both cases I did not get the same error.
kindly help....

Welcome

Thank you for visiting the FEMCI Website, home to useful, obscure and even occasionally frivolous knowledge on finite element analysis and modeling. We hope you enjoy your visit.

The FEMCI website is an online archive of mostly Nastran-based finite element analysis information. Some information can be applied to other finite element analysis programs, such as the principles behind the validity checks, but in general, FEMCI is exclusively Nastran.

FEMCI is no longer an active group and does not hold regular meetings or workshops. Please ignore any references as such on any of the site's pages. We do, however, from time to time update or add information to the site to maintain its usefulness as a finite element analysis resource.

Contacting FEMCI

If you would like to contact those of us responsible for the FEMCI website, please use the following e-mail addresses.

  • For technical questions about specific site content, write to the e-mail address given on the individual FEMCI page.
  • The responsible NASA official for the entire FEMCI website is Jeff Bolognese, the Code 542 Branch Head.
  • If you think you've found an error on one of the webpages or notice a broken link, the webmaster is Ryan Simmons.

  1. An industry standard for over 40 years, Nastran is a finite element solver for stress, vibration, structural failure, heat transfer, acoustics and aeroelasticity analyses. Manufacturers as well as engineering suppliers in aerospace, automotive, electronics, heavy machinery, medical device, and other industries rely on NX Nastran software for.
  2. Nastran is a separate finite element solver product that can be bundled within Femap. Simcenter Nastran (formerly NX Nastran) is an actively-developed offshoot of the Nastran code base, but is one of the most common solvers for finite element analysis (FEA). Nastran is essentially the math behind FEA.
