Here, I would like to tell you why I’ve created this theme in the first place.

Back in 2012 – I wanted to create a blog. So I searched the web on how to create a website, and I found WordPress.
At that time, I didn’t know what it was, and I watched several tutorial videos on how to use it. Thereafter, I began to change the default WordPress theme, the result was very bad. After watching several tutorials and videos, it began to look like something.
Then, by dint of improving free themes by adding new features, I realized that I loved doing that.

The next step was to improve my skills even more. In 2013, I started working in a small business selling WordPress themes. This lasted a few months, but was crucial because I learned a lot about WordPress development.

During 2014 & 2015 – I worked as a freelancer, creating sites with WordPress. That’s when I noticed a huge pain point. There were a lot of free themes in WordPress theme library, but none that exactly suited the client projects. So for every project I worked on, I had to either create a complete theme or purchase a premium theme. Not only was this process time consuming, but it also increased the price of the service. On top of that, customers would often ask me how to do such and such manipulation due to the complexity of some premium themes.
So, the idea of creating a free theme that I could change depending on the project came to mind.

After months of hard work in 2016, I built OceanWP – a completely free and easy to set up theme, meant to make the web a better place.
